Robert P. Mark

Robert Mark (Rob), a 35-year aviation industry leader, is chief executive officer of CommAvia, an aviation industry marketing communications group that integrates emerging media into business strategies for airports and aviation businesses around the globe.

A contributing editor to Aviation International News and Business Jet Traveler magazines since 2000, Mark has twice won the coveted Airbus Aerospace Journalist of the Year award at the Paris Air Show, as well as the National Business Aviation Association’s 2010 Award for Outstanding Journalism. He is the author of four McGraw-Hill books, the most recent being the second edition of the Professional Pilot Career Guide, published in June 2007.

Robert Mark edits the award-winning, syndicated aviation blog Jetwhine as well as cohosts and produces the weekly aviation radio show The Airplane Geeks. He is also a regular aviation contributor to Fox News and CNN, having appeared on both Fox’s Geraldo at Large and CNN’s In the Arena with Elliott Spitzer. Mark has also been featured on NBC, PBS and WGN and KFI radio. An adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, he teaches marketing/public relations and communications skills/persuasive messaging, focused around emerging media.

Mark, a commercial pilot, has logged 7,000 flying hours in both the airline and business aviation environment in small training aircraft, corporate jets and even the mighty Airbus A380. Robert Mark also spent 10 years as an air traffic controller and supervisor with the Federal Aviation Administration.

He received his Master of Science degree from the integrated marketing communications program at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in English by Northeastern Illinois University.
