Elliot S. Schrieber, Ph.D.

Elliot Schreiber is clinical professor of marketing and executive director of the Center for Corporate Reputation Management at the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business, Drexel University, Philadelphia, a position he has held since September 2008. He teaches courses in brand and reputation management and marketing strategy at the MBA and Executive MBA levels. He is recognized internationally as one of the most experienced and respected experts in brand and reputation management.
In addition to his teaching academic position, he also heads his own consulting firm, Brand and Reputation Management LLC, that has worked with international corporations, non-profits and trade associations to create a holistic, integrated strategy to enhance their brand and reputation.
Schreiber is unique in having moved successfully in and out of the corporate, academic and consulting worlds during his 30-year career. He began his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He then went to graduate school and, after receiving his PhD, began his career in 1976 as a faculty member at the University of Delaware. In 1980, he moved to the corporate arena, joining the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE, where he was on the staff of the chairman, developing strategy options for the company’s move into pharmaceuticals and electronics, and later headed global marketing communications for DuPont’s pharmaceutical, medical diagnostics, x-ray and electronics businesses. From 1986 to1995, he was senior vice president of corporate communications at Bayer Corporation, Pittsburgh, where he designed and built the company’s North American corporate marketing and communications organization. In 1995, he moved to Toronto to become senior vice president of corporate marketing and communications at Nortel, with global responsibility for all marketing and communications functions. He was a member of the company’s Executive Council and chair of the Global Marketing and Sales Council. He left Nortel in 1999 to become president and chief operating officer of Digital 4Sight, Toronto, an e-business strategy consulting and research firm. He and his partners sold the firm in 2001, and he returned to teaching and independent consulting.
He was a professor at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario (2001-2004), and from 2004 to 2006 was a visiting professor at Penn State, Syracuse, Temple and Villanova universities. After moving back to the United States, he was senior advisor to the Reputation Institute, New York.
Schreiber holds a BA from the University of Delaware and an MA and Ph.D. from Penn State University. He is the recipient of numerous business awards and has been a featured speaker at major business and academic conferences. He is the author of a variety of articles on reputation and brand management in leading academic journals and books. His is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society and the Academic Liaison Committee of the Chief Marketing Officer Council Worldwide;
Schreiber and his wife of 41 years, Phyllis, live in Philadelphia. They have two children, Allyson, of San Francisco, and Adam, of Hoboken, NJ.
